How the AuthoritySource.ai Site Score Is Calculated

A 0–100 quality score built from five weighted signals: organic visibility, authority, backlink quality, content quality, and technical trust. Here's how it works.

How the AuthoritySource.ai Site Score Is Calculated

Every publisher site in the AuthoritySource.ai marketplace is assigned a Site Score — a 0–100 quality rating that helps buyers quickly compare placements and helps publishers understand where their site stands.

The score is not a guess. It is a weighted composite of five signals, each chosen to predict how much value a link or brand mention from that site is likely to pass.

The five components

1. Organic visibility (25%)

We measure:

  • Estimated organic traffic
  • Number of ranking keywords

Both are log-normalized so a site with 10× the traffic does not get 10× the score. A niche site with 5,000 monthly visitors and 1,000 relevant keywords can score very well here.

2. Authority strength (25%)

We measure:

  • Domain Rank — DataForSEO's authority rank, scaled to 0–100
  • Referring domains count

This reflects the site''s backlink profile and overall authority in the eyes of search engines.

3. Backlink quality (15%)

We look at:

  • Dofollow ratio
  • Referring-domain diversity
  • Spam risk (where available)

A site with backlinks from many different trusted domains scores higher than one relying on a small cluster of links.

4. Content quality (20%)

Our AI classifies each site for:

  • Content depth
  • Topical consistency
  • Freshness

A site that publishes regularly on a tight, well-defined topic scores higher than a scattered, thin-content site.

5. Technical trust (15%)

We check:

  • HTTPS
  • Accessibility
  • Indexability
  • No malware or suspicious redirects

The basics matter. A technically sound site protects the buyer''s investment and the publisher''s reputation.

Why log normalization matters

Raw traffic and backlink numbers vary wildly across sites. Without log scaling, a handful of mega-sites would dominate the marketplace and smaller, high-relevance publishers would never get noticed. Log normalization keeps the score fair and competitive across niches.

How the score is used

  • Buyers see the Site Score in the marketplace to compare options at a glance.
  • Publishers can see the same breakdown in their dashboard and understand which levers will move their score upward.
  • The score also feeds into the Match Score, which pairs a buyer''s target URL with the publisher sites most likely to be a natural fit.

A score is a snapshot, not a guarantee

The Site Score is a point-in-time measure based on live metrics from DataForSEO. It is designed to be transparent, repeatable, and directionally accurate — not to predict exact ranking movement.

If you are a publisher and believe your score is missing something, refresh your metrics from your site dashboard and let the data update overnight.
